QUETTA: The government of Balochistan Spokesman has said that the rain and urban flood emergency has been imposed in the rain-affected areas of Balochistan.

Balochistan government announced that schools will remain closed for two more days (Monday and Tuesday) amid rain and urban flooding emergency across the province. The vacations of all officers and staff have been canceled.

Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti presided over an online meeting which was attended by the divisional commissioners and PDMA officials of the province on the situation of the territorial rains. In the meeting, Principal Secretary Imran Zirkun and DG PDMA briefed the chief minister on the overall situation of rains in the province.

During the meeting, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed his anger over the public complaints of lack of drainage. CM Sarfaraz Bugti said that all the resources and support required by the field officers will be provided to them.

CM Balochistan directed all the field officers to remove the encroachments on the drainage channels.

Yesterday, the Met Office forecast rainfall in over 25 districts of Balochistan on the third day of the wet spell in the province. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least 10 persons have lost their lives in lightning strikes, roof collapses, and other rain-related incidents.
