Narendra Modi is accused of using hate speech for calling Muslims ‘infiltrators’ at an Indian election rally.
Modi, the chief minister at the time, caused controversy during the Gujarat riots of 2002 by making remarks regarding Muslim fertility and criticizing the necessity of government-run relief centers.
In subsequent years, Modi continued to face accusations of discrimination, including openly expressing antipathy towards Muslims and accusing them of being infiltrators and vote bank pawns.

Modi’s government was accused of promoting divisive discourse even after taking office in 2014, including remarks about Ramadan and Diwali and the comparison of graveyard construction to cremation construction.
Modi defended the BJP’s choice to field Pragya Singh Thakur, a suspect in the Malegaon bombings, as a candidate, claiming that she was destroying India’s traditional culture. This decision sparked even more condemnation.
Modi has been accused of using identity politics in the run-up to the polls, including slurring people during anti-CAA demonstrations based only on their clothing and accusing opposition parties of using religious symbols.
Critics voice concerns about the marginalization of minority communities, especially Muslims, in India’s political landscape, claiming that Modi’s government is using Hindutva ideology to win elections.
