KARACHI: As the country braces for a spell of heavy rain, Karachi, the bustling metropolis on the southern coast, is gearing up for a significant shift in weather patterns. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall across Sindh, including Karachi, starting Thursday and continuing into Friday, March 1.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz has emphasized that Karachi is likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day on March 1, extending into the late hours of the night. This weather event is expected to bring much-needed relief from the recent spell of dry weather, with temperatures in the city anticipated to drop in the subsequent three to four days following the rainfall.
Earlier this week, Karachi encountered strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour, attributed to Siberian winds. These winds contributed to a drop in minimum temperatures to 16 degrees Celsius, marking a noticeable shift in the city’s climate.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings of heavy rainfall and hailstorms in various parts of the country over the next two days. Balochistan, in Pakistan’s southwest, has already experienced heavy rain, resulting in inundation in many areas, particularly in the coastal city of Gwadar.
