He added that Chief Minister <strong>Maryam Nawaz<\/strong> has approved the distribution of <strong>more than 70,000 laptops<\/strong> to deserving students during the current year.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is part of the Punjab government&#8217;s broader plan to promote digital education and improve access to modern learning tools at public universities and colleges.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement follows the provincial government&#8217;s record education budget for the <strong>2026-27 financial year<\/strong>, with <strong>Rs750 billion<\/strong> allocated to strengthen schools, colleges and higher education institutions across Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>According to budget documents, the School Education Department has received the largest share of funding for operational expenses and development projects. A significant portion of the allocation has also been reserved for grants and subsidies aimed at improving government schools across the province.<\/p>\n<p>The Higher Education Department has also secured increased funding to support universities, development programmes and employee-related expenses, including salaries and academic services.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the expanded laptop scheme is designed to help students improve their digital skills, access online learning resources and support research and academic activities.
