People in 14 districts of Punjab are expected to see new electric buses on the roads before the end of July, as the provincial government moves ahead with plans to expand its public transport network.<\/p>\n
The latest phase of the project will bring electric buses to several cities that currently have limited access to modern public transport. Officials say the initiative is aimed at making daily travel safer, more comfortable and environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n
Under the plan, Chiniot, Layyah, Okara and Sialkot<\/strong> will each receive 10 electric buses<\/strong>. Lahore, Gujranwala and Multan<\/strong> are set to get 12 buses each<\/strong>, while Murree, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Vehari, Kasur, Lodhran, Nankana Sahib and Narowal<\/strong> will each receive 11 buses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Punjab government says the expansion is part of a wider strategy to improve public transport across the province and reduce reliance on fuel-powered vehicles. Electric buses are expected to lower emissions, cut operating costs and provide passengers with a cleaner travel experience.<\/p>\n Another 488 Electric Buses will also reach Pakistan by August 2026, authorities have declared. They will be allocated to other districts once supplied to further enhance transport in the province.<\/p>\n The project has been earmarked in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) of the Government of Punjab and it is considered as one of the development priorities of Pakistan.<\/p>\n The rollout of electric buses is projected to enhance the mobility of thousands of commuters while contributing to the province’s target of becoming more green and sustainable in its transportation system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" People in 14 districts of Punjab are expected to see new electric buses on the roads before the end of July, as the provincial government moves ahead with plans to expand its public transport network.
