NA speaker’s seat: PTI nominates Aamir Dogar for Speaker

In advance of the National Assembly session set for February 29, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Omar Ayub on Wednesday revealed the identity of the party’s nominee for speaker of the National Assembly.

Amir Dogar of NA-149 is the candidate put forth by PTI to lead the Lower House of Parliament, and Junaid Khan of Malakand is the candidate put forward to serve as the National Assembly’s deputy speaker. Gohar Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf (PTI), asserted that the Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) reserved seats belong to no other party.

“Our constitutional rights were not upheld by any decision made by the Pakistani Election Commission (ECP). No session may begin until the reserved seats are decided upon, he asserted.

Gohar Khan, the chairman of the PTI, claimed that the Punjab Assembly’s session was conducted “illegally,” and that the National Assembly’s scheduled meeting on February 29 would similarly be conducted illegally.

“Since SIC submitted four applications to the ECP, the meeting needs to be called after informing every member,” he declared.
The National Assembly has 60 reserved seats for women and 10 seats for minorities, according to the PTI chairman.
