Aamir Dogar Denies PTI Letter to IMF

Islamabad: Aamir Dogar, the chief whip of the Sunni Ittehad Council in the National Assembly, has refuted claims that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sent any letter to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding Pakistan’s election audit before engaging in bailout talks.

In an interview with Tariq Chaudhry on Aaj Exclusive aired on Saturday, Dogar stated that there has been no official communication or publication of such a letter from PTI to the IMF. When pressed further if he was certain that no letter had been drafted yet, Dogar responded, “I believe no letter has been written thus far.”

This denial from Dogar contradicts the statement made three days prior by the chairman of PTI, Barrister Gohar Khan, who had announced during a news conference in Islamabad that the party had indeed sent a letter to the IMF. The opposition coalition criticized the alleged letter, with PTI urging the IMF to uphold its commitment to advocating for free and fair elections.

Dogar, who was PTI’s nominee for the National Assembly speaker position, lost the election for the seat against PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq earlier in the week.
