The 19-member new federal cabinet took oath in a ceremony held today at Aiqan-e-Sdr in Islamabad on Monday.

President Asif Ali Zardari administrated the oath of the newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet.

Earlier today, President Zardari approved the 19 names for the role of federal ministers under clause 1 of Article 92 of the Constitution.

The members took oath today includes PML-N lawmakers Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Ishaq Dar, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Rana Tanveer, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Jam Kamal Khan, Amir Muqam, Awais Leghari and Attaullah Tarar, while MQM-P’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s Abdul Aleem Khan also sworn-in as federal ministers.

Furthermore, Senators Ishaq Dar and Musadik Malik also took oaths as federal ministers under clause 9 of Article 91 of the Constitution.


Three more names that have been recommended to be inducted as federal ministers include Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

Military and political leadership including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the oath-taking ceremony. In the first phase, the portfolios of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Planning, and Ministry of Interior will be assigned.

Ministers of the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Privatization, and other important ministries will also be appointed today
