ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is getting ready for a possibly longer Eid holiday this year. It’s expected that Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Wednesday, April 10th, according to weather forecasts.

In 2019, the former Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had introduced a lunar calendar to help determine the date of Eid more accurately. This year, the calendar predicts Ramadan will last 29 days, ending with Eid on April 10th.

The Meteorological Department supports this prediction, saying the Shawwal moon is likely to be seen on the 29th day of Ramadan. This aligns with their scientific analysis, confirming the expected Eid date.

Normally, Eid holidays start the day before Eid itself to allow for preparations and celebration. With Eid falling on a Wednesday, the government has announced a four-day holiday from Tuesday to Friday. Combined with the weekend, this will give people a six-day break.
