ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane narrowly escaped an accident when the pilot of a Quetta-bound flight made an emergency landing at the Islamabad airport on Sunday after a bird struck the plane’s engine just after takeoff.

Sources claim that the engine’s automated system sent a signal to the pilot. After notifying the control tower, he brought the aircraft back for a landing. The pilot then made a safe landing at Islamabad Airport.

Engineers were contacted to assess potential engine damage while the aircraft was grounded at the airport. The sources further stated that the passengers who were headed to Quetta later travelled there on another aircraft.
