ISLAMABAD: Islamabad welcomes citizens returning from the Eid holiday from their hometown with pleasant weather as rain showered the federal capital on Weekend.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted more rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Sunday evening/night and Monday. Islamabad’s temperatures today remained between 17-23 degrees Celsius and will likely remain at 15-21°C on Monday.

As per the Met Office, a strong westerly wave prevails over most parts of Pakistan and grips most parts of the country from April 13 and will persist till April 15. Moisture from the Arabian Sea is also penetrating southern parts of the country.

Under the influence of this weather system, more rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, and other cities in Northern, Central, and Southern Punjab with occasional gaps from 14th (evening/night) to 15th April. An isolated windstorm/hailstorm is also expected today night and tomorrow.

PMD also forecasted an isolated heavy fall and hailstorm for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with occasional gaps for Sunday night and Monday. Rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over high mountains) is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) is also expected from 14th (evening/night) to April 15.

Rain-wind/thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) is expected in Balochistan Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, Sibbi, Jhal Magsi, Loralai, Ziarat, Quetta, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Kalat, Lasbella, Khuzdar, Chagi, Panjgur, Gawadar and Kech on Sunday night.

Heavy/torrential rains may generate flash floods in local nullas of Dera Ghazi Khan, Koh-e-Suleman, Khuzdar, Ziarat, Zhob, Sherani, Muslim Bagh, Quetta, Pishin, Kech, Panjgur, Gwadar and Turbat till 15 April. Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Karachi, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Qambar Shahdad Kot, Jamshoro, and Sanghar on Sunday night.
