PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) Acting Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim took an oath of office on Monday with judges, lawyers, and other officials in attendance.

According to details, Senior Puisne Judge Justice Ijaz Anwar took oath from Acting Chief Justice PHC Ishtiaq Ibrahim, who hails from Peshawar.

Justice Ishtiaq did his LLB from Khyber Law College Peshawar in 1992. Acting Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim served as Assistant Advocate General from 1999 to 2000. Acting CJ PHC also held the post of Additional Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from 2008 to 2010.

Earlier, former Chief Justice of PHC Muhammad Ibrahim Khan retired on April 14 (Sunday).

After the confirmation by President Asif Ali Zardari, the Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification on Friday regarding his appointment as the acting chief justice of PHC until his confirmation as regular chief justice by the parliamentary committee for the appointment of judges.

On March 30, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan recommended his appointment as chief justice.
