ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has revised the school timings for all educational institutions in Islamabad under its control, effective May 20, 2024, until further notice.
According to the notification issuedÂby Secretary of Education Mohiuddin Wani, due to theÂscorching heat, the working hours of federal educational institutions have been changed to protect students and teachers from the expected heatwave.
The Meteorological Department has said that the heat intensity canÂbe felt between 41 to 42 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature recorded at 28 degrees Celsius. Heatwave ConditionsÂare likely to develop over mostÂparts of the country, especially Punjab and SindhÂfrom Tuesday.

New school timings in Islamabad
As per notification, single-shift institutions will operate fromÂ7:30 am to 1:00 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the timing will be from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm.
The double-shift institutions will operate fromÂ7:30 am to 12:30 pmÂshift from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the day will conclude at 12:00 pm.
The evening shift will commence atÂ1:00 pm and end at 6:00 pm from Monday to Thursday.ÂHowever, on Friday, educational institutions will start classesÂat 2:00 pm and conclude at 6:00 pm.
- For Pre-I (Montessori / Prep): 7:30 am to 11:30 am (Monday to Friday).
- Ex-FG Colleges:Â7:30 am to 1:00 pm / 4:00 pm (Monday to Thursday) — 7:30 am to 12:00 pm (Friday).
