KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamra Tessori has pledged to launch a solar scheme to citizens, under which consumers in Karachi using up to 300 units per month will get free solar systems.
In a statement on the eve of Eid ul Adha, Kamran Tessori said that free solar systems will be provided to the people living in the rented houses in Karachi.
Furthermore, the governor aid free laptops are also being provided to students to make them self-reliant.
Earlier, the Sindh government has announced plans to distribute free solar systems to 26 lakh households in the region in the budget 2024-25.
Additionally, the provincial government also planned to introduce subsidized solar panels to promote solar energy. The initial allocation for solar projects is Rs 5 billion, with 200,000 solar panels to be distributed where the government covers 80 percent of the cost.

People who are living in rented houses in Karachi and using up to 300 units per month will be given free solar system to save them from higher power bills.
