KARACHI: The Excise Department has collected 675.4 million rupees from the auction of 40 premium number plates on Saturday.
The Excise and Taxation Department of Sindh auctioned off the premium number plate (A 1) for Rs100 million after Muzammil Kareem placed the highest bid. Senior Minister Sindh Sharjeel Memon gave an ownership certificate to Muzmal Kareem.
During the auction ceremony, the premium number plate 7 was auctioned for Rs46 Million rupees, number plate 5 was auctioned for Rs53 Million, number 8 for Rs41 Million, and number 9 for Rs40 Million.
The premium number plate 786 fetched Rs26.5 million in an auction, which was bought by Sarosh, a businessman. Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah awarded an ownership certificate of the number plate.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the money obtained from the auction will be dedicated to the construction of houses for the flood victims. A total of 2,251 houses will be built for the flood victims with the funds.
“People invest in gold and other things, and premium number plates are also a type of investment, the winner of the auction can resell the plate,” he added.
