ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad acquitted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and several other leaders in a case registered at Aapbara Police Station.
Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mehmood announced the verdict to acquit PTI leaders and others including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Sheikh Rasheed, Asad Qaiser, Shehryar Afridi, Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram Nawaz and Ali Nawaz Awan.
The verdict was reserved last week on the pleas seeking acquittal in a case related to the protest against the ECP’s Toshakhana verdict in 2022, which disqualified former PM Imran Khan from holding office for a limited time under Article 63(1)(p).
PTI lawyers, Advocate Sardar Masroof and Advocate Ansar Kayani made the arguments in the case on behalf of Imran Khan and others.
The first information report registered at Abpara police station against the party members claimed the protestors had pelted stones at the police and FC officials, leading to many injuries.
