RAWALPINDI: Five soldiers of Pakistan Army have been martyred while nearly two dozen militants were killed in three separate operations, the ISPR said on Monday.
In a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it is said that five soldiers embraced martyrdom in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). These operations were carried out on 26 and 27 May.
On the basis of intelligence, the first operation was conducted on May 26 in Hasan Khel area of Peshawar district, as a result of which 6 terrorists were killed. The forces also destroyed several hideouts. Captain Hussain Jehangir and Havaldar Shafiqullah were martyred during the operation. Apart from this, six terrorists were arrested.
The second operation took place on May 27 in Tank district of KP, resulting in the killing of 10 militants.
In the third operation, the security forces fired and killed seven terrorists and injured two. Five soldiers lost their lives in the exchange of fire. The martyrs have been identified as Naik Muhammad Ashfaq Butt (32, from Kahuta district), Lance Naik Syed Danish Afkar (30, from Poonch district), Sepoy Taimoor Malik (32, from Layyah district), Sepoy Nadir Sagheer (22, from Bagh district), and Sepoy Muhammad Yasin (23, from Khushab district).
The forces also seized a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from the terrorists, who were involved in several attacks against security forces and civilians.

The ongoing cleanup efforts are aimed at eliminating any remaining terrorists in the area. The ISPR emphasized the determination of the security forces to eradicate terrorism from the country.
