ISLAMABAD: Elon Musk‘s Platform ‘X’ announced that it now allows pornographic content but will ban adult and violent posts from being viewed by users under the age of 18 or those who choose not to watch it, here on Tuesday.
Adult content becomes part of online adult entertainment, but its synchronization on social sites is the new normal, with the former Twitter now becoming the latest platform to welcome explicit content.
The microblogging platform has shared new policies to regulate what kind of content can be viewed on the platform, in sync with the regulator’s growing pressure to protect children from inappropriate online content.
‘X goes XXX’ Here’s how
Under the new changes, social media users posting adult content on X, including nudity and sexual acts, will need to adjust their media settings to keep their content behind the alert before viewing it.
If users fail to label pornographic posts correctly, X will take action to adjust the account settings. Similar laws have also been enacted for violent content, including speech or media that promotes violence or harm.
The social giant’s new policy brings it in line with Apple’s guidelines, which allow apps with adult content created by a hidden user to be displayed. X is currently involved in a legal battle with Australia’s e-Safety Commissioner over the removal of knife attack tweets, the matter to be heard in federal court.
Additionally, Twitter has introduced new features such as NSFW communities to cater to users interested in adult content.
