ISLAMABAD: It looks like we’re in for another long weekend this June, as astronomers have predicted the date of Eid ul Adha 2024.
Astronomers predicted that a crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah will likely be sighted on Friday, June 7, 2024.
According to astronomer Javed Iqbal, the moon will be visible on June 7, which is June 29 in the Islamic calendar. He said that the moon will be 26 hours and 45 minutes old at sunset, which is set to happen around 7:20 PM.
He added that the moonset is expected at 8:31 PM and that visibility of the moon should occur about 40 to 50 minutes following sunset.
The moon should become visible approximately 15 minutes after sunset. The moon must be at least 19 hours old to be seen.
Eid ul Adha 2024 date
Eid ul Adha falls on Dhul Hijjah 10 to 12, which according to astrological calculations, is likely to correspond to Monday, June 17 to Wednesday, June 19(but is dependent on the sighting of the moon). So Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on 17 June 2024.
