Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail unveiled the launching date of former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi-led new party Awaam Pakistan.
The ex-finance minister, speaking to a channel, announced that the Awaam Pakistan will be launched next month and Abbasi would be its first convener. The launching ceremony of AP will be held in Islamabad on July 6.
The lawmaker shed light on the new party’s program, stating that their goal was to transform the country’s whole governing system, with the masses serving as primary decision-makers.
Regarding the involvement of political heavyweights, he also indicated that his party had communicated with various lawmakers across the country.
He claimed that former PML-N leaders Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi, Javed Abbasi, Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Rana Zahid Tauseef, Zahid Binnouri, and Sardar Anwar Soomro will join the Awaam Pakistan party.
Additionally, Dr. Zafar Mirza and Sheikh Salahuddin will join the Abbasi-led party.
Two months ago, dissident PML-N leader Abbasi sought the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to register a new political party.
Abbasi, a seasoned politician who split from the Nawaz-led party during the previous year, filed essential documents to the poll organizing authority’s office for the registration of a new political party under the Election Act of 2017. Abbasi, the former prime minister, held the position from August 2017 to May 2018.
He also stated that he would run in the upcoming elections under the banner of his party.
