LAHORE: The Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority (PECTA) has decided not to conduct board examinations for grades 5 and 8 this academic year. Instead, only assessments will be conducted.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by PECTA CEO Dr. Shahenshah Faisal Azeem. The move is aimed at reducing exam pressure on students and focusing on concept-based learning.
The authority confirmed that the move is in line with modern educational practices, which emphasize continuous assessment over traditional high-stakes examinations.
