ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Tuesday directed to revive 23 dormant water fountains across the city with artistic lighting.
The decision was taken in a meeting focused on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Islamabad through large-scale tree plantation, beautification of major roads and upgrading recreational facilities.
The CDA has identified five key routes for immediate beautification, including Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road and Faisal Avenue.
Lane marking, pavement repair, green belt development and beautification of medians will be done on these roads.
Modern lighting, decorative planters, seasonal flowers and natural stones will be installed to enhance visual appeal.
All major roundabouts will be rebuilt, and mega parks will be upgraded with walking tracks, swings and horticultural improvements.
To combat pollution, urban forestry projects will be prioritized, focusing on increasing greenery and sustainable land use.
Sprinkler systems will be improved to ensure plant survival during water scarcity.
A mobile app will be launched to provide citizens with affordable seedlings and seeds from CDA nurseries, thereby promoting public participation in greening efforts.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized that these initiatives are aimed at enhancing Islamabad’s global image while ensuring environmental sustainability.
He said that our goal is to make Islamabad a model city, combining beauty with eco-friendly urban planning.
