Punjab CM Maryam inaugurates Environmental Protection Force

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the formation of the province’s first Environmental Protection Force.
The ceremony highlighted a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to combat pollution and protect natural resources. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif attended the event as the chief guest, accompanied by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb and Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari.
The Chief Minister of Punjab formally established the Environmental Protection Force, and a flag-hoisting ceremony was organized to give patriotic fervor to the event.
The force’s freshly trained Vigilance Squad gave the Chief Minister a ceremonial salute.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that the administration is making Punjab a role model for other provinces.
We are doing our best to make the country’s environment pollution-free, and we are implementing efforts at all levels to achieve this goal. Maryam Nawaz stated that no prior governments had taken any initiatives in this area.
She stated that we originally delivered environmentally friendly green line e-buses in Lahore, and that these buses will soon be plying the province’s roadways.
The Punjab government will shortly import approximately 1500 e-buses for the province’s major cities.
Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized the need for such a force, describing it as the Chief Minister’s “timely and visionary initiative”. The Environmental Protection Force reflects Maryam Nawaz’s dedication to creating a greener, cleaner Punjab,” Mariyam added.
She praised the Secretary of Environment and the Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), recognizing their dedication to bringing the idea to fruition. Providing resources to this department is a significant milestone. We haven’t only envisioned change; we’ve implemented it,” Aurangzeb continued.
For the first time in Punjab’s history, a dedicated budget has been established entirely for environmental protection. The newly established force is equipped with cutting-edge technology and equipment for effective monitoring and enforcement of environmental breaches.
