
KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has predicted hot and humid weather in Karachi, while strong winds are likely to blow during the day on Thursday.
The maximum temperature may remain between 35 and 38 Celsius with bright sunshine.
Strong winds from the west-southwest direction may blow at a speed of 30 kmph during the day.
Heatwave conditions are affecting different parts of the country, with temperatures increasing with the sunrise in Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Larkana and Dadu in Sindh.
Different regions are going through extremely hot weather as the Meteorological Department has predicted heatwave in most parts of the country, while severe heatwave is likely in the southern half from Monday.
According to the Meteorological Department, a high pressure has been engulfing the upper atmosphere since April 13, due to which heatwave conditions have arisen in most parts of the country.
From April 13 to 18 (Friday), the day temperature in the southern half of the country (Sindh, South Punjab and Balochistan) is likely to be 06 to 08 degrees Celsius above normal as the mercury in Sindh may rise to 46-48 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department said in its report that the nights will also remain hot during the forecast period.
Excessive heat and rising temperatures during the forecast period may cause dust storms/winds.
