
MULTAN: Defending champions Islamabad United continued their unbeaten run in HBL PSL 10 by defeating Multan Sultans by 7 wickets.
This is Islamabad United’s fifth win in five matches. This is Multan Sultans’ fourth defeat in five matches.
This was the 18th match between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in PSL, in which Multan Sultans have won 8 while Islamabad United have won 10 matches.
On Wednesday night at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 168 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Islamabad United achieved the target for 3 wickets in the 18th over.
Captain Rizwan and Yasir Khan once again gave their team a good start of 51 runs. Yasir Khan was dismissed by Nawaz for 29 with the help of 2 sixes and 2 fours.
Mohammad Rizwan became Shadab Khan’s 100th wicket in PSL matches by taking 36 runs with the help of 3 fours. He is the fourth bowler to complete a century of wickets in PSL after Hasan Ali (118), Wahab Riaz (113) and Shaheen Afridi (109).
PSL 10, Multan Sultans beat Lahore Qalandars by 33 runs
Usman Khan’s batting played a major role in improving Multan Sultans’ position, as he scored 61 runs off 40 balls, which included 4 fours and 4 sixes.
Michael Bracewell (9) and Iftikhar Ahmed (10) had a short stay at the crease.
Kamran Ghulam remained unbeaten on 13 with the help of a six and a four, while Chris Jordan remained unbeaten on 6. Islamabad United’s Riley Meredith, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Jason Holder took one wicket each.
Multan Sultans got the important wicket of Sahibzada Farhan in the third over, who scored 22 runs with the help of 3 fours and a six before being caught by Usman Khan off the ball of Ubaid Shah. However, after that, Colin Munro and Andrew House made it easy for their team to reach the target by putting up a partnership of 81 runs.
Colin Munro scored 45 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 5 fours before being caught by Iftikhar Ahmed off the ball of Bracewell. Andrew House’s 80 runs not out off 45 balls included 6 fours and 5 sixes.
Mohammad Nawaz was dismissed for 21 runs with the help of a six and a four by Jordan. The two added 55 runs in the third wicket partnership.
Multan Sultans will play their sixth match against Lahore Qalandars on April 26 in Lahore.
