Foreign Secretary briefs diplomats on decisions made in NSC

ISLAMABAD: After the National Security Committee (NSC), the Foreign Office called upon several Islamabad-based Heads of Mission and diplomats on Thursday to brief them about the ongoing situation amid the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The participants were briefed by the Foreign Secretary, Amna Baloch, on the decisions made by the NSC earlier today.
While addressing the diplomats, she stated that Pakistan has always wanted peace in the region, and we have always condemned terrorism in any form.
She said that Pakistan rejects the propaganda led by the Indian media over the involvement of Pakistan in the incident as such tactics restrain the path of stability in South Asia.
Pakistan will always be ready to counter any misadventure by the Indian government and will protect its dignity and safety of its citizens, she added.
Earlier, Pakistan’s National Security Committee vowed a strong and befitting response to India’s water aggression after New Delhi unilaterally suspended the Indus Water Treaty in response to the recent Palagam attack.
The high-level security meeting held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif rejected the Indian allegations against Pakistan over the Pahalgam attack.
Rejecting India’s unilateral decision to suspend IWT, the top-level security body of Pakistan has warned to give a befitting reply to the neighboring rival in case of any water or border adventure.
“Any move by India to divert the flow of water, lawfully belonging to Pakistan, will be considered an act of war,” the NSC statement said.
In response to India’s slew of aggressive measures, the NSC decided to close down the Wagah Border Post, with immediate effect, and all cross-border transit from India through this route shall be suspended, without exception.
