
LAHORE: The provincial minister for information, Punjab, Azam Bukhari, on Saturday announced the launch of the province’s own airline and a bullet train service from Lahore to Rawalpindi, soon to be operational.
The Maryam Nawaz-led government i set to launch “Air Punjab”. For the purpose, at least four aeroplanes will be taken on lease initially to start domestic operation, while hoping to get an international license in one year, Azam said while talking to the media
According to Bokhari, the Punjab chief minister has directed that the licensing and leasing procedures be completed.
“No one had even considered starting their provincial airline,” she added.
Furthermore, the Punjab government will also launch a bullet train from Lahore to Rawalpindi, completing its journey in 2 hours and 20 minutes, said the information minister.
Bokhari clarified that the Punjab government will work with Pakistan Railways on the bullet train.
“Chief Minister Shahiba has also sought a plan for a high-speed train for six additional routes in Punjab, including Lahore to Shahdara and Narowal; Lahore to Raiwind and Kasur; Pakpattan to Lodhran; Sheikhupura to Shorkot; Shorkot to Sargodha via Jhang; and Lala Musa to Sargodha via Malakwal,”. She noted.
“Punjab’s railway department would undergo a complete overhaul.”
