
SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: At least six persons have embraced martyrdom and 13 others were injured in a heinous explosion in Wanna Bazar of South Waziristan on Monday, according to media reports.
The powerful explosion shatters the Wanna Bazar as it was heard from a long distance, causing fear and panic among the locals, as per media reports.
The attack was carried out to harm Mr. Saif-ur-Rehamn, local leader and former member of the peace committee.
The identities of the deceased and injured have not been discovered yet, as they were quickly shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Wanna, where they were provided the urgent medical treatment, according to local sources.
The Police have cordoned off the area, and a search operation is being initiated to locate the terrorists.
Earlier this month, A police constable was martyred, and a terrorist was killed in an attack on a polio eradication team in South Waziristan, here on Monday.
As per the details, the attack took place in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan, the Central Police Office has confirmed the incident.
Police reported that the terrorists attacked the polio team and their security detail with heavy weapons. The police retaliated, resulting in an exchange of fire for half an hour. One terrorist was killed while the others escaped; a constable was martyred in the attack.
