
NOSHKI: In a tragic incident, at least one person died and more than 30 were injured as an oil tanker caught fire in the Noshki district of Balochistan on Monday, according to media reports.
The oil tanker was parked at the depot when the incident occurred, The tanker exploded as the firefighters attempted to extinguish the blaze, leaving several individuals caught in the flames, according to Noshki Deputy Commissioner Amjad Soomro
Four police officials also caught fire as they were helping other people evacuate the place of fire. Many of them are critically injured as 70 to 80 percent of their body are burned amid the explosion, and they are being airlifted to Quetta for advanced treatment.
According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, the event resulted in over 30 individuals being burned. He claimed that the fire was so fierce that it destroyed the fire department’s truck on the site. He further mentioned that after obtaining basic first aid, the injured were being sent to the Civil Hospital and Bolan Medical College (BMC). Hospitals in the area have declared a medical emergency.
The spokesperson called the incident “Unfortunate, and said that an inquiry is being conducted to further probe the incident.
