Imran Khan, Qureshi granted bails in 25 cases


ISLAMABAD: In 25 cases pertaining to the May 9 riots, former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and party vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi were granted bail by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi. In addition, the court granted bail to Shah Mehmood Qureshi in 13 cases and Imran Khan in 12.

PTI attorney Shiraz Ahmad Ranjha appeared before ATC Judge Ijaz Asif on Saturday to hear bail requests pertaining to Imran Khan’s May 9 riot cases. The judge denied the prosecution’s request for further time in the cases during the hearings.

The PTI founder should not have been detained, the court ruled, and all defendants in the proceedings from May 9 are free on bond.In the GHQ and Army Museum attack cases, Imran was also granted bail, and in all 12 cases, the court mandated a surety bond of Rs. 0.1 million.

It should be noted that Imran Khan was found guilty in crimes including cipher, Toshakhana, and unauthorized marriages and is currently being held in Adiala Jail.
