PMD forecasts rain In Punjab, Islamabad


The Pakistan Metrological Office (PMD) on Saturday announced moderate to heavy rain in Punjab and Islamabad with a powerful westerly wave expected to strike western areas of the country on February 17th night.

The weather system may affect the upper and central parts of the country on February 18. Met Department predicts rain with wind/thunderstorms and snowfall over the hills, as well as isolated hailstorms, from the 17th to the 21st of February.

Several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to experience rainfall. Dry weather with high gusty winds is forecast in southern areas of the Punjab from February 18th to February 20th.

From the 18th to the 20th of February, heavy rain/snowfall may disrupt and close roads in Murree, Galiyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli.

Landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan are all possible during the projected timeframe. Windstorms and hailstorms can cause damage to unsecured structures such as electric poles, automobiles, and solar panels.

The Met Office has encouraged concerned authorities to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions to avoid any adverse incidents during the forecast period.
