KARACHI: The matric exams in Karachi are set to continue until May 2, according to a senior official from the Department of Universities and Boards.
This delay has implications for the scheduling of intermediate exams, as many exam centers overlap, and intermediate exams cannot commence until the matric exams are completed.
The absence of chairpersons in Karachi and Hyderabad for over a month has hindered administrative decisions, including finalizing exam schedules and setting up examination centers.
Initially, the Education Department’s Steering Committee had scheduled matric exams in Sindh for March 15 and intermediate exams for April 8.
However, due to complaints from private school associations regarding students taking exams during Ramadan, the committee revised the schedule. Matric exams were rescheduled to April 8 (after Eid), and intermediate exams to April 28.
The further delay will force students to appear for intermediate exams during the peak summer heat, potentially causing additional delays in results, university admissions, and the start of the academic session. This could have a ripple effect on the entire academic calendar, impacting students’ progress and future plans.
