LAHORE: The Lahore High Court granted YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, protective bail in a case related to reckless and rash driving on the motorway.
Justice Shahbaz Rizvi approved his bail plea and restrained the police from arresting him until his trial on May 5, for which he is instructed to appear in court.
Earlier on April 19, the case was registered at the Chakri police station in Rawalpindi against Ducky bhai for allegedly overspeeding and performing dangerous stunts on the motorway.
The video, uploaded by the YouTuber himself, went viral on social media, in which he appeared to be driving a vehicle with his feet on the dashboard.
The video sparked outrage among the people for endangering the lives of the other passengers on the motorway.
The FIR said that the suspect could be seen driving his vehicle with the help of his feet, showing extreme carelessness and recklessness.
It added that the actions of the YouTuber not only endangered his own life and property, but also those of the other people travelling on the motorway
According to the FIR, the case against the YouTuber was registered under Article 67 (driving recklessly or dangerously) of the National Highway Safety Ordinance (NHSO) 2000, and Section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
In addition to that, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) also lodged an FIR at Laksian Police Station in Sargodha on April 26 under Section 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which prohibits rash driving on motorways.
The Motorway Police said that they had filed a complaint against Ducky Bhai for carelessness, dangerous driving, and speeding after receiving a lot of criticism.
“The video in question clearly shows a driver violating traffic rules and endangering not only his own life but also that of others,” an NHMP spokesperson stated in an official statement issued on Saturday. We are taking legal action because we have taken this breach seriously.
