Gen Mirza Inaugurates Pakistan Pavilion at World Defence Show in Riyadh


RIYADH: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCS) Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza inaugurated Pakistan’s pavilion at the second edition of the World Defence Show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event, organized by the General Authority for Military Industries, will run until Feb 8, showcasing the latest defense technologies from around the world.

Twelve Pakistani arms manufacturing companies, including Global Industrial and Defence Solutions and Pakistan Ordnance Factory, are participating, presenting a range of products including drone technologies, missile systems, and other weapons.

Gen Mirza emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities in response to evolving threats, asserting that while Pakistan is a peaceful country, it cannot compromise on its defense needs.

The defense show, with participation from 750 companies representing 45 countries, is expected to draw thousands of attendees. The inauguration featured an aerial display by the Saudi air force, with Pakistan’s Thunder fighter jets slated to perform in the event’s closing days.

In a separate development, caretaker Defense Minister Anwar Ali Haider met with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh. Discussions centered on bolstering defense and military relations, along with a review of the regional security situation. Several memoranda of understanding related to military cooperation were signed during the meeting, strengthening ties between the two nations.
