Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has announced significant changes to its visa requirements for Umrah performers. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has revealed that citizens from several countries, including the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States, can now undertake Umrah without the need for a prior visa.

This groundbreaking initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to streamline the Umrah pilgrimage process, providing pilgrims with enhanced services while enriching their cultural and religious experience. By removing the visa requirement, Saudi Arabia seeks to align this initiative with the objectives outlined in its ambitious Vision 2030 plan.

Under the new regulations, eligible Umrah performers have the flexibility to plan their pilgrimage conveniently, either through the innovative Nusk app or by arranging their journey upon arrival in the Kingdom. Furthermore, the scope of visa-on-arrival options has been expanded to include first-degree relatives of the visa holder, whether for religious or tourism purposes, further facilitating travel to Saudi Arabia.

In a move to make the journey even more accessible, the Kingdom has extended the option to perform Umrah to transit visa holders traveling via Saudi airlines. This expansion of privileges underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to ensuring that Muslims worldwide can undertake this sacred journey with ease.

Umrah, often referred to as the “lesser pilgrimage” compared to the Hajj, holds profound spiritual significance for Muslims. Unlike the Hajj, which follows specific dates in the Islamic lunar calendar, Umrah can be performed at any time of the year, allowing believers to seek spiritual rewards and draw closer to Allah through this sacred journey.
