PSL points table: Karachi slides to 5th position after Wednesday loss


In the ongoing PSL 9 season, Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings in the 15th tournament match at National Bank Stadium in Karachi, leading Kings to second last place on the points table.

Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan after winning the toss invited Karachi Kings to bat first. Karachi Kings scored 165 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, with Kirron Pollard scoring 48 and Irfan Khan Niazi contributing 27 off 22 balls.

Tom Sefort scored 8, while Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Nawaz managed to score 6 runs each. Imad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Agha Salman, and Haneen Shah took one wicket on the Islamabad United side.

In pursuit of Karachi Kings’ target of 166 runs, Islamabad United easily achieved the target in the 19th over with a loss of 3 wickets. From Islamabad’s side, opener Colin Munro played a brilliant inning of 82 runs and Alex Hales scored 47 runs.

However, Imad Wasim was dismissed for a duck, while Agha Salman scored 25 and Shadab Khan scored 10 runs before being dismissed. From the Karachi Kings’ side, Hassan Ali, Tabish Shamsi, and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each.

After the Lahore and Multan leg of the PSL 9, Multan Sultan remained the top franchise with 10 points. Quetta Gladiators with the win of three matches out of four carries 6 points.

Zalmi is now at the third spot while Qalandars remain at the bottom with 6 consecutive blows. Islamabad United and Karachi Kings are at fourth and fifth place respectively.
