Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will take the oath of office today (Monday). President Dr. Arif Alvi will administer the oath to him in a ceremony held at the President House at 3 pm today.

Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Prime Minister have been completed, while invitations to participate in the ceremony have also been issued.

Invitations have been sent to various dignitaries, including Army Chief General Asim Munir, caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, Chief Ministers, and governors of all provinces.

Shehbaz Sharif secured victory Yesterday in the National Assembly session, securing 201 votes against his opponent from PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Omar Ayub Khan with 92 votes.

The session, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, commenced with the oath-taking of PML-N’s Jam Kamal. During the session, members of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) protested by chanting slogans and holding pictures of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Shehbaz Sharif received support from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).

The swearing-in ceremony will be broadcast on March 4th at 3 pm, with President Arif Alvi administering the oath to the new Prime Minister at the President’s House.
