ISLAMABAD: The accountability court of Islamabad postponed its decision on Tuesday on the appeal submitted by Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, who are requesting their exoneration in the Avenfield, Al-Azizia, and Flagship cases. The Avenfield, Al-Azizia, and Flagship references against Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, the sons of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, were heard by the court.
The accountability court reserved its decision on the acquittal plea of Nawaz Sharif’s sons which will be announced at 2pm today. The sons of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, had their perpetual arrest warrants revoked and bail granted by an accountability court in Islamabad earlier.
Hassan and Hussain Nawaz’s pleas to have their arrest warrants revoked in connection with the Flagship, Al-Azizia, and Avenfield referrals heard before the accountability court. Hassan and Hussain Nawaz turned themselves up before judge Nasir Javed Rana at the accountability court, according to the references. The assistant counsel told the court during the first hearing that Qazi Misbah, the attorney for Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, was occupied in another court and would be back by midday.

According to Judge Rana, Hassan and Hussain will receive reprieve till Thursday. He stated that they both needed to turn themselves in to the court. Following the break, the court eventually resumed hearings. Hassan, Hussain, and their attorney Qazi Misbah made an appearance in court. Qazi Misbah stated that at the prior hearing, a request to halt the perpetual warrants had been presented. The judge asked what cases they were facing.
Misbah responded by stating that three references were provided and that applications had been made in each of these cases. According to Misbah, the Islamabad High Court cleared their father in the Al-Azizia case, while Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and retired Captain Safdar were cleared in the Avenfield case. In the Flagship case, Nawaz Sharif was also found not guilty by the trial court.

Afterwards, the accountability court authorized the release of Hussain and Hassan Nawaz on bail in exchange for surety bonds totaling Rs 50,000 apiece. The former prime minister’s two sons also submitted applications to be excused from court attendance at the upcoming hearing. Hearing was postponed by the court until Friday. The court also removed both of the accused’s declared offender status.
