LAHORE: Monis Elahi, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been given permission by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to run in the by-elections.

The PTI leader’s nomination papers were rejected by the Returning Officer, but the LHC appeal tribunal ruled that this judgment was invalid and upheld Monis Elahi’s nomination papers.

Chaudhary Parvez Elahi, the former chief minister of Punjab, and his son Monis Elahi appealed the Returning Officer’s decision to reject their nomination papers for the 2024 by-elections.

The appellants claimed that the Returning Officer had rejected both candidates’ nomination papers in violation of the law, with Parvez Elahi’s papers being rejected for allegedly hiding assets and Monis Elahi’s papers being rejected because he had been found guilty by the court.

The Returning Officer’s decision was declared void by the court.

According to PTI leader Monis Elahi, an alternative plan has been formed; for us, it is not about going to jail or the FIA.

Moonis Elahi declared, “If Imran Khan gets relief, we will also get relief,”

“There will be opportunities for the return of leaders like me, Hamad Azhar, Murad Saeed, and others as Imran Khan comes out because at this point, it’s not about jail or the FIA, but a different plan has been made,” he said.

According to the former federal minister, Imran Khan’s release is not receiving further attention.

We are also talking with the core committee and the lawyers over the release of PTI’s founder. Only the instances involving the former prime minister should be the focus of attorneys; press conferences, discussion shows, and political circles should not be ignored. Results would follow if Imran Khan’s cases receive attention, he continued.
