Today in Islamabad, a high-level conference presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif resolved to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to look into the terrorist attack on Chinese engineers in Besham.
Sharing details of the meeting at a news conference in Islamabad today, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said the meeting recognized the importance of adopting a coordinated strategy to curb the menace of terrorism.
According to him, a system will be developed as part of this plan to guarantee better coordination between the pertinent parties.
According to the minister of information, the gathering praised the security forces’ contribution to the fight against terrorism. He said that everyone in the conference agreed that every effort will be made to end the threat posed by terrorism.
He said that the country as a whole is unified in the fight against terrorism and reiterated that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the security of key installations, Chinese nationals, and Pakistanis.
The four provincial chief ministers, the chief secretaries and IGPs of the federating units, the federal ministers, and Army Chief Syed Asim Munir all attended the meeting.
According to Attaullah Tarar, those with anti-Pakistan sentiments aim to damage the long-standing friendship between China and Pakistan, but their plans will not succeed.
China, according to the Minister of Information, has always supported Pakistan throughout its dark days.
He asserted that the CPEC is our economic development’s lifeline and guarantor. He stated that Pakistan is grieving along with the Chinese people during this difficult time.

In response to a query on the safety of Chinese people in Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar stated that protocols exist in this area and that every effort is made to guarantee their observance. But in light of the situation from yesterday, we are looking for any gaps in the SOPs or how they are being applied.
In response to another query, the Minister stated that the federal government and the provincial administrations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are closely collaborating on security-related issues.
He said that the Chief Minister of Balochistan will visit Gwadar tomorrow to discuss the federal government-funded Gwadar safe city project, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed him to get on with as soon as possible.
According to him, a counterterrorism unit modeled after Punjab’s cutting-edge CTD force will be established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In response to a query regarding Afghanistan’s role in terror attacks in Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar stated that the Prime Minister has already stated that any attempt to use Pakistani territory against it will be met with resistance.
