PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has set up a six-member committee within the transport department to deal with overcharging during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays.

The committee, consisting of officials of the transport department, including Deputy Director Admin Salman Nisar and Assistant Director Ruidad Khan, has to ensure that citizens are not subjected to excessive fares.

“A divisional-level committee has been constituted for immediate redressal of citizens’ grievances,” the transport department announced. The committee will investigate reports of fare hikes at bus stations across the province and take immediate action.

The committee will work until April 16 to ensure compliance with official rates. They are required to submit documentary and photographic evidence of their inspections and interventions to the Department of Transport.
