LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a ban on plastic bags across the province from June 6.

The decision came from a meeting presided over by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, in which the performance of various departments and stakeholders engaged in dealing with air pollution was reviewed.

Maryam stressed the implementation of the ban on plastic bags across Punjab, which will come into effect on June 6.

Additionally, Minister Aurangzeb unveiled plans to subsidize the production of solar panels at the local level across Punjab, commending efforts in the sector. He also announced the implementation of a solarization program for all government buildings under the program.

These initiatives reflect the proactive stance of the Punjab government in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices across the province.
