LAHORE: Chicken prices massively increased after Eid-ul-Fitr 2024, breaking all previous records in Lahore, Punjab.

The escalating prices have put a huge pressure on consumers’ purchasing power, with the cost of poultry meat reaching Rs 650 to 800 per kg in local market. This surge marks a 40% increase in poultry prices over the past month, exacerbating market volatility.

Poultry prices in Punjab

Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold wholesale: Rs. 445
Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 463
Broiler Meat (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 697
Eggs from farms (per packet): Rs. 7500

These prices reflect the current market rates in the poultry industry.

Earlier this month, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued instructions to the administration to monitor all market rates across the province.

While People complained about a lack of checking by the administration and related departments.
