LAHORE – The Home Department Punjab has asked the Ministry of Interior to suspend the mobile phone and internet services in 13 districts of Punjab during upcoming by-elections 2024.
Regarding this, the provincial department has written to the federal government, requesting that the services be suspended on April 21.
On April 21 (tomorrow), under strict security, by-elections will be held for 21 national and provincial seats in Pakistan.
Elections were originally scheduled for 23 constituencies. However, the results of two of those seats, one provincial and one national, have already been announced.
According to the letter, to prevent any adverse incidents, mobile internet services should be discontinued in all 13 districts.
In Lahore, Talagang, Chakwal, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Kallar Kahar, Gujrat, Sadiqabad, DG Khan, Ali Pur Chatha, Bakkhar City, Zafarwal, and Kot Chutta, the provincial administration has requested that mobile internet services be suspended.
The Home Department has also issued copies of the letter to IGP Punjab, Chairman PTA, CCPO Lahore and relevant commissioners.
