LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Communications and Construction Sohaib Ahmed Bherth has said that the Gujranwala Expressway will be completed by the end of this month [April].

He said the plantation of trees on both sides of the road with the support of the of the Punjab Forest Department is underway.

The minister expressed these views during his visit to inspect the construction work of the Gujranwala Expressway, according to a handout issued here on Thursday.

Sohaib Ahmad Bharth was accompanied by Minister for Specialized Health Punjab Khawaja Sulman Rafique, Secretary C&W Sohail Ashraf, and other officials.

The Punjab Minister said that the travel time from Lahore to Gujranwala on the expressway will be reduced to only 45 minutes, and it will be a fast and smooth journey for the passengers.

He revealed that work on another section of the 74-km expressway from Gujranwala to Kot Sakhi Sarwar is in progress and the asphalt layer is at the stage. “This expressway will make travel faster and smoother and will connect Gujranwala with Hafizabad and Lahore-Islamabad motorways,” revealed Bharth.

He also said that CM Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, is taking great interest in providing better travel facilities to the people, and five mega expressways are also being built in South Punjab, which will connect dozens of districts.
