Lahore: Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister nominee of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has outlined her vision for Punjab as she prepares to take the helm for a five-year term, heralding what she calls a “new era” for the province.
Following PML-N’s victory and securing a majority in the Punjab Assembly, Maryam expressed gratitude to the people of Punjab for their support and emphasized the significance of the upcoming tenure. If elected, she would become the first woman to hold the position of chief minister in Pakistan’s history, overseeing a population of over 127 million.
Addressing the media after a parliamentary party meeting, Maryam vowed to set records of service and called for unity among party members to tackle the province’s challenges effectively. She highlighted key issues such as healthcare, education, local governance, sewage, and clean water, pledging to prioritize development in every constituency.
Maryam also outlined specific initiatives, including expanding the Safe City Project to all cities, establishing model women police stations, addressing traffic congestion in Lahore, and creating IT cities across the province. Additionally, she promised to streamline administrative processes by delivering certificates and services to people’s homes, providing interest-free loans to youth, and redesigning health cards for improved healthcare access.

Moreover, Maryam pledged to focus on housing projects for the underprivileged, offering merit-based scholarships for students to study abroad, and ensuring employment opportunities for Punjab’s residents.
With her ambitious agenda, Maryam Nawaz aims to lead Punjab towards progress and prosperity, emphasizing inclusive development and service delivery to meet the needs of its diverse population.
