Lahore: In the eighth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Quetta Gladiators secured a victory against Islamabad United by 3 wickets. This marks Quetta’s third consecutive win in the event.
Islamabad United set a target of 139 runs, which Quetta Gladiators achieved in the 19th over of the match.
Played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and opted to bat first against Islamabad United.
Alex Hales from United scored 21 runs off 9 balls, providing a fiery start, but after his dismissal, Salman Ali Agha contributed with 18 runs off Mohammad Hasnain’s over.
It seemed like Islamabad United would post a substantial total on the board, but Quetta Gladiators’ bowlers slowed down the run-scoring pace, disrupting Islamabad United’s batting lineup.
A partnership of 40 runs between Salman Ali Agha and Colin Munro ended when Munro was dismissed at 69. Subsequently, wickets fell in quick succession for Islamabad United.
At 72, captain Shadab Khan, at 80, Azam Khan, at 87, Salman Ali Agha with 33 runs, at 105, Imad Wasim with 9 runs, and at 118, Jordan Cox were all out.
In the final moments of the match, Faheem Ashraf’s 20 runs helped Islamabad United reach a total of 138 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
Quetta Gladiators’ master spinner Abrar Ahmed took 3 crucial wickets in 4 overs, conceding only 18 runs.

Jason Roy of Quetta Gladiators also displayed an aggressive inning, scoring 37 runs. However, wickets fell on the other end, with Saud Shakeel scoring 2 runs, Khurram Nawaz adding 9, and Sarfaraz Ahmed contributing 1 run.

Despite losing 4 wickets for 54 runs, Quetta Gladiators’ captain, Riley Rossouw, and Sharjeel Khan formed a partnership, leading the team to victory with 62 runs.
Riley Rossouw was named the Man of the Match for his impressive performance in leading Quetta Gladiators to victory.
No changes were made in the Quetta Gladiators team, while Islamabad United made two changes, with Habib Shah replacing Abid Shah and Roman Raees replacing Timm Al Mills as the final eleven.
Overall, it was an exciting match with Quetta Gladiators emerging victorious against Islamabad United in PSL 9.
