Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) nominated Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai for the party’s presidential candidate today.
The PTI picked Mahmood Khan Achakzai to contest the presidential election against Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari, who is the joint candidate of the coalition led by the PML-N.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai won the National Assembly seat from Balochistan’s NA-266 constituency in the Kila Abdullah-cum-Chaman.

Newly-elected Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan has confirmed the nomination of Achakzai for the presidential polls. Incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan also urged his party’s lawmakers to vote for the veteran politician for presidential office polls.
The Pashtun politician Achakzai made news in the National Assembly when he strongly declared the value of preserving the Constitution and the importance of the legislature.
During the National Assembly speech, he demanded the immediate release of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that the people had voted for him.
Earlier this week, the PTI delegation, led by Asad Qaiser, met with Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Balochistan National Party chief Akhtar Mengal to seek their support for the struggle against rigging in the general elections held On February 8.
