After the newly-elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif took the oath, the ruling party PML-N started the consultation on the formation of the federal cabinet.
Sources privy to the information said that the consultation on the names of the federal cabinet has been completed.
Senator Ishaq Dar has dropped out of the race for finance minister, while well-known banker Muhammad Aurangzeb is expected to take oath as the Finance Minister of Pakistan.

Ahsan Iqbal is likely to be given the Interior Ministry, Ata Tarar the Ministry of Information, and Hanif Abbasi to be given the Health Ministry.
Khawaja Asif is likely to be appointed as the Defense Minister while Sardar Yusuf is being considered for the Religious Affairs Ministry, Mossadegh Malik Petroleum, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhary is being considered for CAD.
It is proposed to appoint Anusha Rehman as the IT Minister while Abid Sher Ali as Advisor for Water and Power. According to the reports, a 46-member cabinet will be formed in three phases.

Earlier on Wednesday, cabinet members of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took oath.
Governor Balighur Rehman administered the oath of the 17 provincial ministers and special assistants of Punjab cabinet. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also attended the ceremony.
In the presence of the newly-elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur, 15 members of the KP cabinet took oath on Wednesday.
Governor KP Haji Ghulam Ali administrated the oath of the cabinet in a ceremony held at KP’s Governor’s house.
