14th President of Pakistan today

Pakistan is all set to hold presidential elections to elect its 14th President for the next five years today (Saturday).

Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP)  Asif Ali Zardari and chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai will compete for the coveted position.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari, a joint candidate of the PPP, PML-N, MQM-P, and other coalition parties, is running in the presidential election against Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who is the Sunni Ittehad Council candidate.

The presidential election will be held simultaneously in the Senate, National Assembly, and four provincial assemblies. The vote will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Voting is done using a secret ballot.

A joint session of the parliament will be held at the parliament house in Islamabad today in which the members of the National Assembly and the Senate will exercise their right to vote.

Similarly, the provincial assemblies will also hold their sessions today for the election. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja will serve as the Returning Officer for the presidential election.
